WATERFEST show REPORT - drag racing 325hp '87 5kTQA, etc..

who all went to waterfest on sunday in englishtown NJ? there were TONS of
A4's...lots of TT's...passats, and other vw's..  even a black S8, and a
R-something avant..(it said R...on the back, cant remember)  there was a
really sweet silver '83 UrQ...and a grey '91 20v200TQ with N/A 5k/100 euros
on it..  (lister???)  also a blue '87 4k that was completely modified, with a
turbo, and a 80/90 style hood.. bunch of S4's and S6's..   there was also
this B3 passat wagon SYNCRO.with a turbo motor and the quad round
headlights..  apparently they sold the B3 passat syncro in canada.
seems the hot thing to do for the vw crowd is to put those polished wide 5
spoke audi TT wheels on your jetta/golf 4..  (same 5x100 bolt pattern)  there
were a few nice 80/90's, and coupe quattros..   most notably was the black
'87 5kTQA that had new hampshire plates that read "EVIL WGN" and was lowered
w/ custom exhaust and A4 wheels and chipped/etc. to 325hp.. they were drag
racing it..
i didnt see it but some guy came up to me and said "did you see that black
5000TQ wagon, they just blew the engine at the drag strip"  anyone see it
run?
it was the first year waterfest was at englishtown, so it was kind of a
clusterf*ck and there was no organization to the show area, and the $20
admission sucked but all in all it was a great show..  would like to see some
older audis next year.. the type44's were almost nonexistant except for that
wagont hey were racing and that '91 20v w/ the n/a euros..
