I've heard about FPA indeed. Details and inside info? Not really, although I
race a Formula Super-Vee powered by a 200hp 1.6 rabbit motor, with stock
rods, crank, block and, not mechanical failures in 4 years of flogging the
thing. Anyway, Audi has done their homework with the FPA engine. You'd be
hard pressed to find any of their trick, 'bazzillion $$$' race parts
available for your motor project. And from what I gather, those engines are
bullet proof.

In a nutshell, if Audi was a little more current on aftermarket trends, they
might have realized the 'POW' factor that is available to the 1.8t's and
beefed them up a tad. With all the Jap. cars buzzing around with their trash
can mufflers and a wild array of aftermarket slap-on's readily available,
Audi could have deliberately allowed entry into this craze. I feel that
perhaps they have their backs a little turned hoping to attract only
sensible adult drivers, so as to avoid any teens calling their horrible
customer service center and.... and...... oh, NOW I'm mad!! ;-)

Last year they didn't have a single mechanical failure.
