Hi,

Unfortunately for me, my daytime, weekday browsing activities are now limited (by "Websense" content filtering software btw, in the interest of restricting/filtering use of company resources and wasted productivity). So, I'm not able to do much surfing (or helping on this topic) until this evening.

But this brings up a good point I was thinking about. We had two or three people asking for the links (to the original modded pic) to be posted again. These folks probably don't make use of the web-browseable quattro list archives, but are instead only getting emails that they are (a bit too, in this instance,) quick to delete.

This is a great way IMO, assuming you can surf pages, to read the list.

For example, today's archives are located at http://www.audifans.com/pipermail/quattro/20020726/date.html

That page is sorted by poster date and time. The last part of the address can be /subject.html or (iirc) /author.html or /thread.html.

The second to last part is the calendar date of the posting, so yesterdays archives are located at:
http://www.audifans.com/pipermail/quattro/20020725/date.html

It's usually not too difficult to find posts, especially if this is the interface you usually use to read the list and your browser changes the color for visited links. You can easily see which posts you haven't read yet.

For looking for the links, I would pull up one of those pages from the past day or two, and sort by thread or subject. One of those links (that share the same subject line as this post) is the post that had the two pics in it.

The format for some of the other sublists is a bit different, grouping the posts by month. I don't know if this still uses the posters date/time settings to determine where to put them, but it sure seems to be a little "cleaner", in that there aren't a lot of posts from "the future" like there are on the main list archives.

Btw, you can list all the (mailman? or recent) archives at http://www.audifans.com/pipermail/quattro/

Now if I can just learn to effectively search. Why is it that a Google search seems to only find the very older archives, but if I specify "+audifans.com/pipermail/quattro" only THEN will I get the more recent posts. It seems like there is something that needs to be changed so that Audifans.com searches includes the whole body of information instead of just parts of them.

I may just have to turn on mail delivery again... <grrr>

Hth,

Ken
