I-5 metal head gaskets

I've gone through two.
80 4000S 4cyl 133K over heat in NJ (fan didn't come on)
86 4000Q 5cyl 400K multiple overheats.  (fan again)
Runs but consumes coolant so I use water only and summer use.

out of all of the 5 cylinder's i've owned the only one i've had to change a
headgasket was a 5000 that was run out of coolant.

The rest of the engines (10) have never been opened up.

go figure..
