Taking Apart an I5 Cyl Head - Questions.

I'm working on a NF cyl head. I've done other heads from other manufacturer=
s before
but it is the first time with the I5.
I do have some questions:

1=2E Which is the correct side of the exhaust port gasket? (they are a sand=
wich
with metal one side and traditional gasket type the other) Bentley don't sa=
y a
thing about it.
      1a. metal to the head and traditional gasket to the EM
      2a. metal to the EM and the traditional gasket to the head

2=2E Do you have any tips to remove the valve springs?

3=2E How much material can be removed from the short side radius?

4=2E The intake ports are the size of the gasket(no enlargement needed). I =
was
expecting at least some difference. Is this normal?
