(snip)
A continuing problem with the wipers. The run in low and interminet
positions, but put them in high and the 25 amp fuse blows right away. A
friend suspects that it is a grounding problem. My question is where is
the ground for the windshield wipers that we should be looking at?
(snip)

If the fuse is being blown, then either a) you have a short to ground in
the high position contacts of the switch, b) you have a short to ground in
the high position windings of the motor, or c) you have a short to ground
on the harness lead that connects the high position switch contact to the
motor (possibly a skinned wire touching a metal part of the body, because a
grommet at a pass-through hole is missing). Not having the wiring diagram
for your car in front of me, I would suggest you 1) disconnect the battery
ground lead; 2) connect one lead of an ohm meter to a ground source, 3)
connect the other lead of the ohm meter to the wiper switch harness, 4)
turn the switch to the high position and check for a ground, 5) move the
same ohm meter lead from the switch harness to the wiper motor harness
plug, 6) check the plug leads for a ground from the motor, 7) move the same
ohm meter lead to the actual wire in the harness and check for a short to
ground.
