it will pry off, it is a press fit.

i would not recommend removing it, though, based on the fun I had
installing a new one - on an engine on a stand, too.  Wound up making a
tool out of a 2" or so PVC cap.  In the engine bay, you could have a lot
of trouble getting a new or used one back in place.
