Not my experience, but the dealer did let me have a rebuilt replacement
Delta for $85 on V8Q #1.  On V8Q #2 I was ready for the same, but luckily
some competent tech wrote the code on the carcass of the radio, something
I recommend everyone should do.
If the radio is the OEM Wiesbaden (80's, 90's and ?), it was soft
codeable, which means you can code them with any number you pick....so,
if the factory "1111" was changed, you're out of luck, especially when it
goes into permanent lock mode.  I have a nice Wiesbaden paperweight I'll
let go cheap if anyone's interested ;-)
