Tach signal on type 85 and Michelin Man hose ruminations

Fellow listers,
My 3B conversion is nearly completed but the tach still doesn't display
anything...
According to Huw's fusebox layout, it's supposed to be the wire that goes
to the I 1 terminal at the fusebox, I'll look after it tomorrow and I'll
try to hook up the ECU's tach signal up there, we'll see what happens... I
previously tried to hook up the green wire from the stock ignition coil
terminal 1 to the 3B coil's terminal 1 but no tach readings....
Also, today I blew my first Michelin Man hose!!!! Not because of too much
boost, nor because of a used hose (actually it looks like new) but because
the fact that the hose has rubbed against the timing belt cover, and it
slowly worked into a nice hole... and I was wondering why I used to get
slightly less boost and then finally the car used to stumble and would not
hold a nice idle.... does someone know if duct tape can be a viable
temporary solution?
As always, thanks for your help in advance,
Mihnea
