trouble setting bose lock code

I'm following the instructions on Scott Mo's
site on setting the lock code on the 200q bose
stereo. When I set the four digit code, I press
FM1&AM at the same time again. "CODE" is
displayed and a second later, the reset code
(1000), not my own is displayed for setting
again. What am I doing wrong?
