2 outside temp sensors: why 2?

Hairy green toads from Mars made Konstantin Bogach say:

They use the lower of the two readings. This helps deal with underhood
temperatures from being parked, or sitting in the sun.

There are two interior sensors, too, they use the average of the
two readings there.
