Hi Roger,
Really, failure of any of the engine sensors/sensors(with the exception of
the Hall sensder in the distributor) is not enough to disable engine
operation.
I would, however, carry the following spare items in the trunk:
--headlight switch
--ignition control module(#191 905 357B)
--headlight bulbs(2)
--fuel pump(#431 906 091D)
You can get these items from the junkyard. The headlight switch and bulbs
can come from any 4kq or CGT, '85-'87. The ignition control module must come
from a 2.2L engine 4kq or CGT('85, '86, or some early '87s). The fuel pump
can come from any '84-'87 4kq or '81-'87(early) CGT. Under $10US/ea for the
headlight switch or the ignition control module, $1US for a bulb, maybe $20
for the fuel pump.
If you're truly anal, you should also carry:
--complete set of used cooling system hoses
--set of used sparkplugs
--spark plug wire(longest one)
--used dist cap and rotor
--one spare of each parking/brake/turn signal bulb
--1 gallon of 50/50 mix coolant
--cuppla clamps to pinch the line to the fuel pump so you can replace it
If your alternator or power steering pump fails, you can still go a
reasonable distance(but niether of these are sensors, etc.).
That should about do it.
