A little scary looking mounting one of those
things where you did. Rocks and other debris.
I used the smaller Hayden oil cooler on my 5ktq.
The one that costs ~$40, also from Pep Boys. I
bought 5/8" inside diameter Aeroquip hose, six
feet. The car already had the oe oil cooler
clamped on to the block fittings (the ends were
cut off). So, I cut the aeroquip steel jacketed
hose in 2 three foot lengths. No, I needed an
adapter to reduce the hose to the 3/8" diameter
of the oil cooler fitiings. I went to Home
Depot, and got two brass fittings. One was a
5/8' screw type the other was a 3/8" barb. They
screwed together with play, so I soldered them
together. VOILA! I have my adapter. I put the
oil cooler in front of my radiator and was done
with it. I boosted oil capacity, and dropped the
temps simulataneously. The cooler is well
protected. The lines loop around from the pass
side of the block, behind the vented portion of
the bumper and the reduced dia lines up through
the pass through for the a/c high pressure (?)
line.
