The early 12cyl BMW's had some difficulties, I have heard (DISCLAIMER: No
personal experience!!) I have been told they were money pits. If you are
considering a pre-95 740 (8cyl), then make sure it has had the engine
swapped!

Keith from www.audiconnection.com (daswolfen at aol.com) has already done a V8
engine swap in a V8, from 3.6L to 4.2L, and I have seen pictures of a V8 in
an UrQ, as well as in a 90 coupe. Also, Keith is in the process of putting
an ABZ engine in a V8. My guess is that you could easily (again, $ no
object) put a V8 or even an S8 engine in your A6, but ask Keith or other
wizards.

The ABZ is high $, but a V8 > A6 may be inside your budget.. ??
