16 valve Motors?

Maybe not in the US, but in Europe the type 89/B3 and B4 Audi 80 got this
engine.
It was used in the B4 80 Competition quattro, among others. It wasn't a
popular engine, though- little low-down grunt.

They are mounted longitudinally, which requires different placement of
ancillaries.
