sounds like the sensor for the afterrun feature on most type 85 and 89 cars.
That sensor will run the radiator fan after the car is shut off via the
afterrun control relay if the temperature is above a certain threashold
(pretty hot.. you won't hear the fan running unless it is REALLY hot out or
the car has been pushed extremely hard).
