I re-discovered a briefcase containing slick Audi sales literature from
1980, 1983, 1984-5, 1986, and some 1989-90 thick brochures on safety, and
some 1991 model 200 20vt stuff, including 1991 paint and interior color
selection brochures. I'll say a few things about what is in several of the
brochures:

The 1980 brochures feature the model 5000, (which then looked very much
like the 4000, with about 10 more inches in overall length.) Engine options
are the 5 cylinder n.a. gas with 5 speed or automatic, the 5 cylinder turbo
with automatic, and the 5 cylinder n.a. diesel with a 5 speed.

The 1983 brochure features both the 4000 and the 5000 with turbo-diesels.
The 4000 had a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder TD of 68 SAE HP at 4,500 RPMs, and the
5000 got a 5 cylinder 2.0 liter TD delivering 84 SAE horsepower at 4,500
RPMs. The 5000 TD came with an automatic only, and 10.1 seconds to 50
mph. The 4000 TD came with a choice of 5 speed manual with 8.8 seconds to
50mph, or an optional automatic with a 10.9 second time to 50mph. I'm sure
that in 1983 both cars were also offered with gasoline engines, but this
brochure only addresses the turbo-diesel models.

The 1990 brochure features safety across the entire Audi model line, and it
includes the coupe quattro and the V8. Several pages are devoted to the
double-sided galvanizing and 5 year tests of corrosion on unpainted bodies
placed outside.

The 1991 piece shows the cover of Road & Track, dated December 1990, and
contains several pages on the 200 20v, tracing its development back a few
years to SCCA and IMSA GTO racing, before presenting the new 1991 200 20v
coming to the USA. There is also a block by Andrew Bornhop, on the Audi
Coupe Quattro S2, as seen by him at a track in Italy. He hopes it will come
to the USA. Then, there is a page of statistics about the 1991 200 20v
sedan, listed at $42,850 with pearl white paint. Wish I had one....the car,
not the brochure.

Glad to share whatever is in these brochures with interested parties on the
list.
