A/C R134 retrofit from prev. R12 = poor performance..any ideas?

Chris,
Did your mechanic do it the right way?
Right meaning- replace all seals and hoses, replace the
receiver/dryer, evacuate the compressor and the rest of
the system for at least 4 hrs. before recharging, verify
all replacement hoses are of the nylon barrier type, check
for leaks in the system w/ UV dye.
My 5ktq after retrofit blew very cold air, had some problems
w/ leaks that took some resolution, that was the biggest problem.

i had R12 in my a/c system up until a few weeks ago, then it stopped
blowing cold. so i was advised to retrofit my '86 5kT to R134. Now, with
