Supercharge or turbocharge 20v engine?

Hello all,
 Does anyone have any experience or stories about supercharging or turbocharging a 20v engine. specifically one from a 1990 90 20v. I went to a imports shop to buy hydraulic oil and the mechanic next door recognized my car as a 20v.  (real hard with the 20v badging and all) but he was really nice and said that he could put a supercharger of all thing in my car to make it, well, faster. Anyone heard of this before? Bad idea?
