I have to disagree with Charlie here.  The signs are not adequate, that's
the type of sign you see for 'scenic view ahead' or 'picnic area ahead', not
a road closure.  I've seen yard sale signs bigger than that road closed
sign.

And to me it looks like the ice patch is just beyond the crest of a small
hill on a curve.  Why didn't they have a barrier up, or at least a big sign
in the _middle_ of the road that the drunken snowmobilers could drive
around?

Matt, what was the posted speed limit for that road?

I say consult a lawyer first, then go to court and explain your side.
