There is a power windows/sunroof control unit (looks like a relay and plugs
into the aux relay panel under the dash).  This is the unit that gives you
the retained power before you open a front door after ignition shutoff.  I
would suspect that unit is not making good electrical contact or may have
failed.

For an '86 5kcstq, locate the little cover on the lower dash panel by your
left knee, open it and you'll see three rows of relays.  The unit of
interest is in the second row, fourth one from the left.
