"Bosch rebuild"

Hi Guys
Time to define a few things automotive. There is no such thing as a
Bosch factory rebuild. There is however, a Bosch factory
"remanufactured" alternator available. I believe this is what you are
referring to.
A rebuilt alternator probably wouldn't have new slip rings unless it
needed them, rebuilding means disassembling, cleaning, replacing any
broken parts or parts worn beyond their tolerance, then reassembling
and testing. It doesn't necessarily mean that the slip rings would be
turned unless they needed it.
A remanufactured alternator will have the bearings replaced and the
slip rings turned or replaced. Other than that the process is pretty
much the same except it probably gets a dip and a better warranty,
with of course the higher price to match.
Unfortunately many people interchange "rebuilding" with
"remanufacturing". Even many people in the industry interchange the
two words, but there is a difference, more so in other things than
alternators.
