I could be wrong, but if you look real close at the alt. carcass's there
are no scratches, dings or dents, nor any wear marks where bolts should
have been. I suspect, that as with many other things automotive, it is
more expensive to refurbish used components than to manufacture from
scratch. In my business I deal with FOB factory price sheets on many an
item, most times freight and taxes double and triple the cost, and that's
before the middle men start adding their child support payments.... I've
dealt with container loads of less than perfect items or paperwork,
abandoned to auction because the return freight was more than the items
production cost.
