NAC- Outlook 2002 and Norton AV don't mix!

Man,
I was getting really bummed. I know you all would miss my posts if I
couldn't send emails. Yeah, right! :-)
Anyway, as a helpful to those of you who may be running this particular
combination of software or may think of doing so in the future, this may
come in handy:
Make sure you go to the Options menu in Norton AV 2002 and disable virus
scanning for outgoing emails. If I had it enabled, my SMTP server would
timeout every time and I was unable to send any email, even test
messages
to myself.
Now that I have virus scanning outgoing emails disabled, I'm fine.
Curiously,
this did not occur with the same combo of software when I was using my
old
machine, running Win98SE. So WinXPPro and it's built-in PPPoE or the OS
itself
must be responsible partially for these interactions.
Since I don't want to be completely off-topic, I'm happy to report that
the 200q is now back to running at full boost! :-) The broken catalytic
convertor that I had was causing so much backpressure that I was unable
to
develop full boost. I first noticed it when one of the tailpipes was
discolored
white and I could feel less exhaust coming out of that pipe, then it
manifested
itself more overtly with a rattle at small throttle openings, especially
when the
engine was cold. The onboard boost indicator shows 1.6bar easily, with
1.7 or
1.8 indicated on long pulls in 4th or 5th, although I saw 1.8bar in 3rd
today
as well. Note that with a 2.5 bar pressure transducer, these are not
stock
readings anyway.
Taka
happily back to pestering the list! Now I can sleep. :-)
