I don't doubt that.  What's the word?  Cost per unit?
It seems the variable is where you are on the curve.
If all the tooling has already been paid for, then a
completely new unit could actually be cheaper than a
reman., which would involve cleaning, inspection, etc.
 Only when the cost of the hard parts is much more
than their rehabilitation is this a viable option.
