The highways through the central valley (5 and 99 in CA) are a lot
faster than anything else, but not the prettiest or most interesting
roads. 101 or 395 are much nicer, although 395 is obviously not
coastal. Email me off list if you want to know about really desolate
weird roads. And if you pass through Palo Alto I'd like to see that
99 5ktq.
