I broke the nipple off the end of the lock and now my igniton won't shut off or engage the starter. I have most of the dash apart and can't find the magic. I decided to seek urgent counsel of the list. It appears that the steering column must be freed to move in order for the column sufficiently to free the lock from the column. I cannot see how to do this. Can anyone supply the answer? Am I on the wrong track? The dash internals are very different from my '89 parts car. My 5K Bentleys are no help.

I called Bentley, which is local to me. They can only supply the manual from Michigan (they are in Cambridge, MA). That would take about a week. They did tell me that they are releasing it on CD April 5th. I asked if one might escape before then. That idea did not appeal to them.
