Adjustable Wastegate "how to"

Note that you need a 12x1.25 (typical fine thread) metric bolt, not a
12x1.2. Also, I couldn't find a bolt that long with threads all the way to
the head, so I used a stud of the dimensions 12x1.25x50mm. I ground a small
slot into one end of it, and adjust it with a small screwdriver bit in a
socket. This works incredibly well, and I lock it in place by tightening a
nut on top of it. Once you get into this project, the process should become
obvious... it really is very easy. Thanks to those involved in this
write-up. Also, I noticed that the page says that this mod will not
increase boost pressure. That is not true. It does, indeed allow higher
boost pressure. Following this mod, I'm able to see 1.9 bar on the dash
gauge. This is with my qlcc chip and 1.6 bar spring. There's a fine line
between adjusting for max boost and hitting the fuel cutoff, and it took a
while to adjust it just right. Also, in my case, the 50mm stud was just
about right. With a stock spring, you may need to screw it in farther for
the same results, but it's not a big deal, since the stud can actually screw
into the wastegate much farther than a bolt. Whereas the bolt would stop
when the head comes in contact with the wastegate cap, the stud will screw
in much farther.
One more thing.... instead of drilling into the tamper-proof cap and using
a screw to pop it out, simply turn the wastegate cap upside-down(with spring
perch and allen bolt removed). Then use a center punch to knock the cap
out. from the bottom. It only takes one small hit, and you don't risk
damaging the threads by drilling or marring the cap surface by prying.
Hope this helps.
