Auto Tranny Question on 98 A6 Avant

I had a look at a 2001 A4 auto tranny. The fluid level is checked from
underneath the car. The tranny oil pan fill plug is set in a recessed well.
You fill the tranny from underneath until the oil overflows the top lip of
the well and out the fill hole - that is the proper oil level. A messy
procedure to be sure if you DIY. Your A6 may be the same.
