Hi!
I can't info on this, but I recall it has been asked on the list before
but i just can't find it.
I ordered a Simoni Racing steering wheel last November and at the same
time hunted for a MOMO hub to fit it (Simoni don't make one, but they
fit the MOMO hub). After much searching I discovered I would have to
have a hub made up using another hub and my old steering wheel. So it
was made and I received it back in a week. The new steering wheel
arrived 2 weeks ago so I tried to put the 2 together this weekend only
to discover that the hub and wheel mounting holes don't line up. The
collapsible part of the hub is made by "Nardi" so I can but assume Nardi
either have a different mounting hole pattern/spacing or from the looks
of the collapsible hub section (cheap looking pressed steel) they make
crap hubs.
Looking at the hub and the wheel I'm more inclined to blame the hub
because the wheel is top piece of equipment.
So now I've got to find a hub that will work.
First of all, does anyone have a MOMO hub in good condition that will
work on the type-44 cars? I have the 1988-1991 Audi 200.
Or, can I use the hub off an S4 quattro? Does anyone have an S4 quattro
hub they can look at and measure the details of the mounting holes (eg.
diameter of circle formed by mounting holes)? I have been through ETKA
and it seems the S4 hub will work nicely as the C3 and C4 cars all had
the same steering wheel part number, meaning the hub of the S4 should
fit the steering column of the 200 of '89.
I'll be cutting my losses on the buggered stock steering wheel and
horrible piece of hub they made from it. It's amazing how many Audis are
breaking for spares over here in South Africa, but it's even more
amazing that I have to look towards the rest of the world just to get a
decent or correct item. The MOMO distributor won't even put in an order
for the hub unless I purchase a steering wheel.
