Have you tried http://www.vwvortex.com ? They have some great forums and you can subscribe to get every post in e-mail. Also check out watercooled.org.

Do any of you know of a mailing list like quattro, but for Volkswagens,
specifically 80's-vintage watercooled cars?  I recently had to step
sideways from an '86 CGT to its junior, an '88 Scirocco 16v, and I'm hoping
to find a list approaching quattro's expertise.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
