> Think what you want. I was in the passenger's seat. That's how I know.
Policemen: "What's the speed limit on the xxx, sir?"
Me: "70 mph"
Him: "Would you care to estimate how much faster you were going?"
Me: "About 30?"
Him: "We have a calibrated speedometer, sir. At the moment you steamed past, it was reading
101.8 mph. Shall we settle for 115 in your case?"
Me: "I can't argue"
Him: "Good. Now - we're not out tonight looking for speeding motorists. We're after real
criminals, so you're in luck. Don't do it - it's not worth it. Now - would you take me up to
where my colleague has stopped your friend?"
[Drove him up as requested. His colleague was breathalysing 'my friend']
"Right. Remember - it's not worth it. Good evening."
Two weeks ago yesterday, somewhere in England. A Vauxhall Cavalier V6 with some very
expensive electronics.
And yes, I have a witness.
