Jim, that warning can mean several things. Officially, it can mean low
coolant level or over-temp. warning. Unofficially, and probably more
commonly, it means that your multi-function sensor is bad.

Subject: over temp warning on check display ('90 80Q) always illuminated

The over temp warning illuminates (with a chime) on my 1990 80Q
immediately after starting it each time. I thought this was tied to the
sensor in the overflow but I disconnected it and it still does it. I
even tried shorting the sensor pins thinking it might be NC, but it
didn't matter. Anyone been here before?

Thanks, Jim
