I'd hope they are this close, because the resistance of a good
new-generation (i.e. copper wire) element is 1.2 ohms.  My repair experience
was that I fixed a break, and after about 15 minutes of use it burned out in
another spot.  Fixing the element is pretty easy, but getting to it is just
too much work, so I'm going with a new element.
