Thanks everyone, I learned something new.  My Bentley Manual (page 25.83) 
states that once the ignition switch is turn off, the codes are lost but 
doesn't mention the ability to get the code by cranking the engine.  Since 
the switch has been on & off numerous time since the engine died, I didn't 
think that dumping the codes was an option.  
So, I cranked over the engine, ran the codes and get a 2113, Hall Sensor. 
Prior to that I had conducted all the Bentley tests on pages on the ignition 
module and Hall Sensor.
All readings are within specs however the brittle plastic on the connector 
broke while I was unplugging the connector on the distributor.  
I just ran out of daylight but tomorrow I will pull the distributor and do 
some more inspecting & testing.
