I just read the Boston Globe article by Royal Ford, reviewing the Mini Cooper.

I want a Cooper S :-)

Not nearly as much as a Caterham R500.   No quattro, but at that 
power/weight ratio and that kind of handling, WTF cares?

<sigh>...where's 40 grand when you need it?
