ball joints...solved

I have gone through this wrestling match more times than I would like.
I finally found that the strut is trying to move to the outside and binding
the ball joint shaft. Especially when it's about 1/2 way out, and the recess
in the shaft has engaged the bolt hole opening. Moving the strut/hub back and
forth and simultaneously rotating helps considerably. Sometimes another
gorilla is helpful for applying force to the appropriate areas at the same
time.
FWIW I have never been able to use my pickle fork _without_ rupturing the
rubber boots. If the joints are being replaced, that's not a problem, but I
have removed them far more times for other reasons than replacement.
The question has been asked before if the boots are available separately, but
I have never seen the answer. Anyone know?
