You wrote this right Pete? I think you're a Pete anyway. When I lived
in Montreal about 30 years ago it was an eye opener. Where I came from
in B.C. drivers generally gave the right-of-way to pedestrians in the
cross-walk. Not so in Montreal. I was bumped up onto the hoods of a
couple of taxis before I realized this was a whole new ball game. I
saw a documentary some years later on Nature of Things regarding the
crocodiles in Africa entitled "There be Dragons" based on an old map
of the continent where some soul noticed these suckers were big
fellas. Couple thousand pounds big. They take down wildebeests and
such as they come for a sip of H2O at the rivers edge. There were some
baboons living around there that would get really nervous and
wide-eyed whenever trying to cross a creek. Look both ways was look
both ways 10-20 times, get you nerve up, and make a wild dash to the
other side. I thought, yah, those buggers would do alright in
Montreal.
Best regards,
Geo
