I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, but here in Wisconsin, there is no
vehicle inspection. A portion of the southern part of the state requires
emissions testing, but that's it. No vehicle inspection, etc. Here in
Madison, when you buy a car, you just bring in the application and get the
plates. They really don't even know that the car actually exists.
Emissions testing is a joke, btw. When I lived in another part of the state
that required it, I just told them that my cars were all wheel drive(even if
they weren't), and they only check the idle emissions. You don't even have
to get out of the car. Takes about 2 seconds. Oh, and they check the gas
filler cap seal. I had one fail once. :-)
