Just get a spare ECU and get the spare chipped. That way you can just plop in the stock ECU for trips to the dealer. Easy and pretty much fool proof. If your car has the imobilizer, you'll need VAG-COM to get the new ECU to work...

Dealers aren't the ones who say Yea/Nay on warranty coverage, since they
don't _provide_ warrenties, just perform the work if they get paid for it.
