Chip Friendly Dealers

A chip will void your warranty. AoA has been cracking down on this
seriously and with the pressure they've put on the dealers, very few
dealers would be willing to honor your warranty should you experience
some sort of engine failure, as they will blame the chip. Whether this
is illegal for them to do this is a matter of debate, but the reality
is,
they're doing it.

An A4 1.8T is not really a step up in performance over a Jetta VR6,
other than in terms of foul-weather capability. It's more of a lateral
move, but up in terms of price and "status."
