oil leaks

Are you sure that you are leaking oil, and not Pentosin?
The V6 engine has a high pressure hydraulic line that runs up and over the
rear of the engine. This line is a failure item on a lot of V6 cars, and I
had to replace the line on my '94 (39,000 miles and seven years of service).
At the time that I bought the car last summer, it began by using around the
same amount of oil but I also was using some Pentosin...about a pint in a
thousand miles, and stopping at a stop light for example, or after running
for a while the odor was for all the world just like oil dripping onto a
manifold.
My advice also, is DO NOT, repeat after me: DO NOT take the car to someone
unfamiliar with Audis, EVER. Even if it means going to an authorized
dealer. Also, do not take the car to anyone who is interested in your car,
"only" as another car to work on, no matter how motivated and sincere he may
appear. Don't let your car (and your check book) be a learning tool for
someone.
Roger
