Squirrelly Winter Handling

My 90q20v always feels disconcertingly slidey on snow and ice. The rear
seems to float a fair amount in slush, was going 20mph in slushy snow today
around a corner and it was making me very nervous. It felt better in
heavier snow, but still not what I imagined quattro could be like after
owning a FWD for so long. The 80 just zipped along in snow, the rear would
bump around a bit, but always followed the front end right on target, it was
a great car in snow.

Got the Blizzak WS-15's from the 80 on there. They are getting a little
worn, but not riding on the wear bars or anything like that. Have we come
to the conclusion that this sort of loose handling in snow is usually an
alignment issue? Possible the toe is off in the back? Anything else I
should be sniffing around for?

Thanks!
