Hi everybody,
I have an 87 5000cstq that has a randomly selective non-starting
problem. The symptoms are as follows...
Will happen warm or cold. When it will not start, the tachometer does
not move at all when cranking (usually it bobbles slightly tell the
engine catches).
Car does not have any spark when it will not start, verified by pulling
plugs, also pulled coil to distributor wire and when ground it doesn't
spark either.
BTW plug wires are brand new oem bosch in the last 2 months
I can usually get it started by doing one of the following..
When I pull codes I get 2112 which as I believe just means that the
engine was cranked but did not start?
Remove coil to distributor wire / replace / Wiggle
Remove hall sender connector on distributor and Replace
Make sure that all plug wires are tight (I really doubt that this is the
problem)
So basically my problem should be one of these 3 options?
A short in the wiring for the hall sensor on the distributor?
A hall sensor on the distributor going bad
A coil going bad
My question is how do I test these and am I missing anything?
Thanks in advance
Joe
