1981 I-5 on unleaded?

Tom,

AFAIK, since 1975_all_ VW/Audi engines have been built to run with no 
problems on unleaded fuel...my 85 coupe quattro runs only on 95 unleaded 
and I've never had a single problem with that. Tell him to avoid using lead 
substitues as some of the can cause deposits to accumulate in the fuel 
lines (read that in a french car magazine where an urquattro owner has had 
a hard time buying new (ouch!) fuel lines because his original ones were 
clogged up with potassium, which is a lead substitute)
