Very weird thing going on with the 89 200tqa as well. Driving along at
nearly any speed... I am seeing as high as 1.3 bar while at low rpms
(1500-3000) at higher rpms I have seen upwards of 1.5-1.6. I know the
feeling of a torn wastegate diaphragm and its not that, I'm not getting any
extra boost it just seems to be displaying extra. Is there any BTDT on
this? I am NOT experiencing fuel pump cutoff at all, which IS a symptom of
torn WG diaphragm. ]
Rob,
You may have a growing leak in your lower wastegate hose(or torn wastegate
diaphragm).
Someone double check me here - I think the 200tq (MAC14) ECU has a higher
cutoff point, closer to 1.8 bar, which is why it is not cutting out, but
may be retarding the timing so as to not realized the full effect of the
extra boost. Just guessing here.
