Sad Observations and Audi Spotting (NY)

Had the beater ('87 Merc Sable "Avant") out today (had to attend a school
play) and on the way back, while cruizing on the Parkway, I observe a set
of HID lights approaching fast. Turns out to be a Bimmer 3 series. Due to
the way traffic was flowing, he ends up RIGHT on my back bumper as I am
turning onto a ramp to exchange to the Thruway.

I decide to have a little fun, accelerated to the entrance of the ramp
and proceeded to carry about 9/10ths through the ramp, using lift
throttle (geared down) rather than brake taps to help settle the nose
into the turn. From how the Bimmer approached, I expected him to be right
on my tail. Instead he was a FULL quarter of the ramp behind me (or more)
by the time I hit the Thruway. I got balked at the entrance to the T-way,
but still opened up nearly a 1/4 mile (and the Sable's a dog, it's only a
3.0 liter) on the Thruway before I saw the the stupid Bimmer's lights
again. Again, on the straight he comes storming up behind me, but I had
at this point, hit the ramp that I needed to take to go home. The
Bimmer's lone male driver looked at me as if he thought I was driving a
SHO or something. Would've been even sadder if I had the Audi. The
queston, WHY do these people even bother to buy such a nice car, when
they drive it like it was an old Supercharged Buick Roadmonster or
something. All go on the straights, no go on the turns!?!? You'd almost
think that that Bimmer was a mid '60's muscle car.

mAC, couldn't sleep last night, so flipped on a BAD HBO movie, "Land of
the Free" another last gasp for the aging William Shatner, this time
starring as a bad politician. In this movie there were lots of chase and
crash scenes, in which there was (at least a half dozen times) an early
type 44 Avant, in that pale yellow you occasionally see. It did a couple
of drive bys, was hit in the front on one side, smashed into by a punched
body in another scene, ran through a firely wreck in another, and
broadsided in another, AND it WAS'NT a car that any of the "stars" was
driving (it was simply a bystander car). I don't think anyone but an
Audifan would've noticed. In addition, the Lincoln LSC that was chasing
people had a bra on in one scene had it missing in the very next scene.

Finally, I was going northbound on US Rt. 9 in Wappingers Falls NY when I
saw a Pearl Type 44 Turbo Avant turn north onto Rt. 9 from Old New
Hackensack Rd. I had to turn off there, 'cuz I was late enough for lunch
as it was. Lister?
