UrS4 serpentine belt chirping, A/C compressor noise and rattle

My A/C compressor sounds loud when car is in the garage, not that obvious
when outside or when you're inside the car. Seems to work OK, though I
haven't owned the car long enough to drive it on hot days. I suspect my
problem may be the A/C compressor bearing and/or clutch. As I mentioned
before, the serpentine belt tensioner is new, belt has about 15K on it.
I think I'll pull the serpentine belt off, run the car without the
alternator, fan belt and A/C (hoping it doesn't overheat!) and see if the
chirping and rattling noise is gone. If not, then it's related to the
timing belt (probably the tensioner).
I may be too much of a perfectionist, had a guy at work listen to it who
works on cars a lot and he thought everything sounded completely normal.
But hey, it's a $50K car, so why not expect perfection?

My viscous fans spins when cold. Not sure if it supposed to though. It also
has about 1/8 inch play in it. Been that way for the last 60k miles.
On the A/C, it wasn't real loud. I would say it was a rapping sound or low
clicking type sound. Kind of hard to describe sounds.. With the A/C off,(the
snowflake button on the A/C control head) there was no sound. On, it was
there and varied speed directly with RPM. The shop that eventually replaced
it, said at first that it could not be the compressor and said it was the
serpentine belt tensioner. Well, long story short, it was the compressor. So
I ended up with a new belt tensioner too. By the way, the A/C did function
okay. Plenty of cold air.
