I know it's different now, but...
My diesel experience was a '77 Rabbit and my mom's then-new '84 Quantum
wagon.
The Rabbit was a basket case: bad glow plugs, hole in the battery (hmm,
won't hold charge...), dr. side rr. spring would freeze and CONTRACT
(resembled low-rider contest; hit a tiny bump BANG!!), and last but not
least, would literally accelerate on its own. Often when someone was trying
to pass me! Really, I'm not being an a**hole, it's the car! It's Herbie's
evil cousin.
Oh, yeah, and it was that nasty 70's lime green. And the defogger didn't
work (Northern Wisconsin, nah, you don't need it.), the, ah forget it.
