I talked to Stebro about 2 years ago on this same topic, they told me the
same exact think. Talking on the phone, I got the impression that they were
not really up to the job of making a 3", so they push the 2.5" all they can.
They also say that there is a power loss, and granted, on a NA car there
would be less power down low with such a large exh., but I can guarantee they
have not dyno tested power loss on turbo cars with 3", I just don't buy it.
I wouldn't use a Stebro in a Performance turbo application, I think you local
exh. shop and 3" is still the best bang for the buck.

Large, open chamber with perforated material surrouding it.

Cost-prohibitive and a loss of low end torque.
